Funeral Monday For 86-yr.-old George Siebken

Funeral service for George Siebken, 86, was held at the Peet Chapel Monday at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Siebken died last Thursday July 6.

The Rev. Fred Bolinger of the First Baptist Church conducted the service with Mrs. J. P. Watson organist, accompanying Miss Susan Baribeau who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond The Sunset." Burial was in the Van Tassell cemetery.

Honorary pall bearers were Joe Traphagan, Ray Jenkins, and Lee Penn, Lusk, Dan Dielman, Lost Springs, Harry Baldwin, Sr. Van Tassell, Bill Henritze, Dardanella, Ark., and Merrill Quintard, Harrison.

Casket bearers were Herbert Tadewald, Walt Schorenberg Sr., Otto Vondra, Lusk, Rex Shoults, John Bruegger and Harry Baldwin Jr. Van Tassell.

Mr. Siebken was born January 4, 1886, at Omaha, Neb., the son of George and Mary (Jenkins) Siebken. He moved to Albion, Neb. as a youth and was married there to Golda Bump on May 25, 1910. They farmed there for three years.

In 1913 he and Mrs. Siebken took a homestead south of Van Tassell and he has resided in this area since that time. In 1922 he operated a hotel in Manville.

He spent much of his time at his big love, auctioneering. He was self-taught with his classroom being the area behind a large red barn. He cried sales in this area for nearly 60 years.

His wife died March 25, 1966, and a daughter, Della Swain, in 1931.

Surviving are his two sons, Kenneth and Clarence, two daughters, Kathryn at home and Wyoma Robertson of Artesia, Calif. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, three brothers and two sisters.
