James R. Sturtevant

Jim Sturtevant, a 1955 graduate of Niobrara County High School and the son of Inez and Robert Sturtevant, Lusk, died Monday morning as the result of a motorcycle accident in San Diego, Calif. Funeral service will be conducted this Thursday afternoon, Jan. 28, at 1:30 at Peet Mortuary Chapel.

James R. Sturtevant was born March 31, 1936, in Minneapolis, Minn. The Sturtevant family moved to Laurel, Mont. in 1947 and came to Lusk in 1950. Jim graduated in 1955 from Niobrara County High School where he was active in sports. He graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1960 with an engineering degree. He then attended Abilene Christian College for four years before serving churches in California and Colorado as a minister. He had recently returned to engineering and was employed in San Diego at the time of his death.

The Rev. Frank Blish is officiating at the funeral and music will be provided by Jane Bardo organist and Mark Lohr who will sing "Amazing Grace" and "In the Garden."

Interment will be in the Lusk Cemetery. Pallbearers are Charles Bruch, William Percival, Gene Lenz, Dave Lorenzen, Vern Modine and George Dixon.

Memorials may be given to the Niobrara Hospital Auxiliary.

Mr. Sturtevant was preceded in death by a brother John. He is survived by his parents of Lusk and many other relatives and friends.
