Wm. M. Tibbetts, 79, Resident Of County 30 Years, Passes Sunday

William Mathis Tibbetts, long time resident of this community passed away at the Manring Convalescent Home, 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon, February 4th, death being caused from a cancerous condition of the body. Mr. Tibbetts had been in poor health for the past year and in late October he was brought to the Manring Institution from his daughter's ranch, Mrs. Roy Quigley, where he and his wife have resided. Since that time he was given all medical care and aid possible, but failed to respond in the course of better health. Mr. Tibbetts had reached the age of 79 years, 3 months, and 12 days.

Funeral arrangements were held at the Peet Chapel Thursday afternoon, February 8th, the services being conducted by Reverend Millard H. Marshall. The songs "No Light There" and "Old Rugged Cross" were sung by the quartet Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Stark, Mrs. Joe Danaher, and J. M. Hungate, accompanied at the piano by Miss Alice Fowler.

Interment was made in the Lusk cemetery. The pallbearers attending the coffin were: Floyd McLain, Roy McLain, Frank Rider, E. O. Kint, W. S. Blackmore, Fred Eikenberry, and Leon Van Tassell.

William Mathis Tibbetts, son of Joseph and Ruthie Tibbetts was born October 23, 1860 at Elmo, Missouri.

February 15, 1885, at the age of 24 he was united in marriage to Mary Francis Braves. To this union five children were born: Stella, Nettie, Willie, Orey and Winnie. Orey preceded him in death.

Mr. Tibbetts lived in Missouri till 1887 going at that time to Barber County, Kansas where he took a preemption after which he returned to Missouri.

In 1892 they moved to Nebraska where they lived till 1909 at which time they came to Wyoming and homesteaded south of Lusk where they have since made their home.

February 15, 1935 the Golden Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Tibbetts was celebrated at the Congregational Church of Lusk and nearly fifty-five years of happy wedded life is terminated by his passing.

Mr. Tibbetts joined the Methodist Church at the age of fourteen.

He is survived by his wife and four children, three brothers: George of St. Joseph, Missouri, Charley of Wymore, Nebraska and Esrom of Elmo, Missouri. Four sisters: Annie of Omaha, Nebr., Martha of Elmo, Missouri, Emma and Ruella of Casper, Wyo.

Mr. Tibbetts was 79 years, 3 months and 12 days of age at his passing, and once again the thinning ranks of our Pioneers are broken.
