Roy Quigley Dies Sunday; Services Today

Elmer Roy Quigley, 85, of Lusk died Sunday at the Torrington Hospital of a heart condition. Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at the Peet Mortuary with the Rev. Fred Schuett, of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, officiating.

Mrs. J. P. Watson will render organ music and accompany Mrs. Robert Bramlet, Mrs. Donald Johnson, Harry Lyon and Mike Lyon who will sing "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me."

Casket bearers will be Bud Hoblit, Earnest Bartow, Eddie Plumb, Dave Shepard, Leroy Johnson and Van Hank. Honorary bearers will be Stanley Hoy, W. S. Tyrrel, C.E. Marvin, Ray Morris, L.T. Bonner, Stanley Johnson, Rulo Roberts, Roy McLain, Floyd McLain, and Ford Porter. Burial will be in the Lusk Cemetery.

Elmer Roy Quigley was born May 11, 1883 at Annawan, Ill. to Darcas O. and William Quigley. He took his schooling there. After death of his father he moved with his mother, four sisters, and one brother to Nebraska. On December 25, 1907, he married Nettie Tibbitts of Belgrade, Nebr., at Fullerton, Nebr. They were the parents of one son, Earl. The family operated a wheat farm there until 1919 when he moved his family to Wyoming. He bought a ranch south of Lusk and was engaged in ranching and ran a small dairy for a number of years.

Later with his son Earl they went into the trucking business. In 1941 he turned his trucking business over to Earl and devoted his full time to ranching.

Following the death of his wife in 1944 he became semi-retired. In 1947 he became part owner of the Northside Service Station until 1951.

He married Lucy Maude Strodtman June 24, 1951. He started working on road construction and operated his own gravel truck until 1959, when he bought and operated the Sportsman Club and Pool Hall in Lusk until 1960. He lived the remainder of his life in Lusk.

Survivors are his widow, Lucy, one son Earl of Lusk; two step-sons, Allen Dean Strodtman, Lusk and Donald Strodtman of Abbeville, La., one grandson Charles Quigley of Lusk, and two step-daughters Donna and Ronda Strodtman of Abbeville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
