Mary F. Tibbitts Passes On June 6

Mary Frances Tibbitts, resident of this community for more than 30 years, passed away at 2:10 o'clock Friday afternoon, June 6th at a Lusk hospital, death being attributed to a heart attack coupled with the complications of advanced age. Mrs. Tibbitts had been in failing health for the past few years, although she had been quite active up until her final illness.

She is survived by three daughters and a son, Mrs. Grace Quigley of Lusk; Mrs. Vinnie Wise of Central City, Nebraska; Mrs. Stella Conley of Kansas City, Missouri and William E. Tibbitts of Donald, Washington. One son, Orey, preceded her in death in 1919. Her husband, William M. Tibbitts, passed away February 4, 1940. The children were all present for the funeral which was held Monday, June 9th at the Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk.

Mary Frances Graves, daughter of General and Mrs. Margaret Graves, was born at Elmo, Missouri, October 7, 1867, and passed away at Lusk, Wyoming June 6, 1941, aged 73 years, eight months and 29 days. She was united in marriage to William M. Tibbitts, February 15, 1885 and in 1935 they observed their golden wedding anniversary together with their children and a host of neighbors and friends in and around Lusk.

Following their marriage the young couple moved to Kansas where they resided for several years, moving to Nebraska in 1892 where they resided until 1909 when they came to Wyoming and took a homestead south of Lusk in the Royal Valley community where they resided until recent years. Following the death of her husband Mrs. Tibbitts had made her home with her children, having spent the past winter in Nebraska and had returned to Lusk to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Quigley only a few months ago.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 9th at the Peet Mortuary Chapel with Rev. M. H. Marshall in charge. A mixed chorus comprising Mrs. Edna DeCastro, Mrs. H. J. Templeton, O. P. Harnagel and Ford B. Kuns sang selections accompanied at the organ by Mrs. J. P. Watson. Casket bearers were neighbors of the deceased for many years in the Royal Valley community, Roy McLain, W. S. Blackmore, Julius Schley, F. W. Reed, Harry Hargraves and Archie Sparks. Interment was in the Lusk cemetery beside the remains of her husband. Mrs. Tibbitts was a kind and loving wife and mother, who make many friends wherever she was. Devoted to her home she brought years of happiness to those about her. It was her great fortune to have observed fifty-five years of wedded life with her late husband, and since his passing she devoted all her attention to her children and looking forward to the time when she might again join her mate in the land beyond.
