Sidney Baughn, Manville Pioneer, Dies Friday

Sidney Bradford Baughn, 70, of Manville, died Friday, April 24 at the Casper Hospital. Funeral services were held Monday at 2:00 p.m., April 27, from the Peet Mortuary in Lusk, with burial in the Manville Cemetery. The Rev. Richard Korns of the Manville Alliance Community Church officiated.

Mrs. J. P. Watson, organist, accompanied Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. Richard Korns as they sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset."

Casket bearers were Legrand Lee, Enos Lee, Chuck Vaughan, Zeb Ward, Alvin Alexander and Fred Sheaman.

Mr. Baughn was born February 28, 1900 at Manville, to Erastus and Jennie Howard Baughn. He spent most of his youth in and around the Manville area except for a short time he spent in Atkinson, Neb.

August 3, 1925, he married Varna Jeannette Stephen. They lived south of Jireh for a few years and then homesteaded north of Shawnee, Wyo., where they lived until 1932 when they moved into Shawnee. In the late 30's they moved into Manville where he remained until the time of his death. He worked for the Chicago and North Western Railway, Shawnee and Manville sections until his retirement.

His wife, parents, one sister and one brother died previously.

Survivors include one daughter, Lula Kennedy of Keeline; three sisters, Mrs. Tessie Valentine of Wheatland, Mrs. Merle Allsup and Mrs. Nita Lashmett of Manville; two brothers, Roscoe of Brookings, Ore., and Curtis of Riverton, Wyo.
