Helen T. Whitmore

Helen T. Whitmore, 99, passed away on Jan. 20, at Bonnie Blue Jacket Nursing Home in Greybull. A graveside funeral service will be held at the Lusk Cemetery, 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 27, with Pastor Jason Playle officiating.

Helen was born in Sweden on June 26, 1905, the daughter of Andrew and Emma (Hedland) Bengston. The Bengston's immigrated to the United States shortly after Helen's birth. Helen attended school in Riverton. She married Richard Brece Whitmore on Aug. 4, 1932 in Los Angeles, Calif.

She traveled extensively with her husband throughout the United States while raising her two children until settling in Lusk in 1959. She was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church in Lusk being involved with the church choir and ladies guild. Helen worked as a nurse's aide for over 25 years at the hospital and nursing home in Lusk. Her hobbies were gardening and reading and she loved to dance. Helen is remembered by her family and friends for her cheerful outlook on life and as having a true servant heart. She was always willing to help others no matter the cost. She tried each day to brighten the day of those she cared for during her time as a nurse's aide.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Richard known as Dick, and her son Richard Charles.

She is survived by her sister, Elva Payn of Bellingham, Wash.; her daughter, Jannice Schmidt of Denver, Colo.; four grandchildren, DeAnna Robertson of Greybull, Adrian Whitmore of Sundance, Amber Whitmore-Haley of Cagnes Sur Mer, France and Shanda McLain of Hastings, Nebr. and two great grandchildren, Elliott and Caleb Robertson of Greybull.

Cicmanec-Pier Funeral Home in Lusk is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
