Gale Burnham Dies Here Friday

Gale E. Burnham, 44, died unexpectedly of a heart attack in the Spencer Hospital at 5:30 p.m. Friday. He had undergone surgery Friday morning.

Funeral services were held Monday at 4:00 p.m. at the Peet chapel with the Rev. Roger B. Koen in charge. A quartet composed of Mrs. Carl Peterson, Mrs. Emerson Bonner, E. E. Al Davenport, and L. E. Johnsonbaugh sang "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Rock of Ages." Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist. Pallbearers were Roscoe Kilmer, Roy Chamberlain, Harold Darnall, Howard Morrison, Paul Morgan and Leslie Schnorenberg. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery with the American Legion conferring military honors.

Gale Ewing Burnham, son of LeRoy and Cora Ewing Burnham, was born March 17, 1916 at Missouri Valley, Ia. He married Ruth King in Los Angeles, April 1, 1941 and they were the parents of four children. Serving in the U. S. Armed Forces during World War II, he received six medals for meritorious service, including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

The family moved to Lusk in 1945 where Mr. Burnham was employed by Wyoming Gas Company. He had also been employed by the Ranger Hotel and was working for the Kilmer Creamery at the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth; three daughters, Mrs. Gene Coleman of Lusk and Janice and Dana of the family home; a son John also at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Burnham, two brothers, Raymond and Clyde, and a sister, Mrs. Corinne McDonald all of St. Joseph, Mo.; a brother, Ivan (Ike) now in a Kansas City Hospital and one granddaughter.

Out-of-town- relatives attending the service were Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy, Raymond Burnham, Clyde Burnham, Mrs. McDonald, Roger Burnham, Mr. and Mrs. Charles McDonald, Jr. and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Merrill, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Burnett, and Karen McDonald all of St. Joseph, Mo.; and Bill Burnham of Kansas City.
