Warren E. "Gene" Coleman

Graveside services for Warren E. "Gene" Coleman, age 52, were held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Lusk Cemetery with Rev. Scott Grimshaw officiating.

Mr. Coleman died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 1990 at his home in Lusk. He was born June 2, 1937, in Lusk the son of Lloyd and Isabel Coleman. He attended schools in Lusk and later enlisted in the Army, serving from Dec. of 1955 to October of 1957.

Gene worked for Niobrara Electric Association for a short time before moving to Gillette to work on construction. He then worked for Budget Food Market in Lusk for several years. He began working for the Safeway Store in Lusk in August of 1969 and was still employed there at the time of his death. He worked for Safeway for over 21 years.

He married Susanne Burnham on Dec. 21, 1958 and they were the parents of two daughters. He later married Verlla Jassman on July 31, 1970, in Lusk.

Gene was a member of the American Legion in Lusk.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Survivors included: two daughters, Cindi Newsom of Kingman, Ariz., and Gale Coleman of Jackson, Wyo.; his father, Lloyd Coleman of Guernsey; two grandsons and many other relatives and friends.

For those who wish, memorials may be sent to Warren "Gene" Coleman Memorial at the VA Hospital in Hot Springs, c/o Voluntary Services. They will decide on an appropriate memorial at a later date.
