Funeral services for Florence M. Eddy, 72, were held Monday, June 4, 1990 at 10 a.m. at the Converse Funeral Chapel with Pastor Randy Gregory of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Interment was at the Whispering Pines Ranch north of Shawnee, Wyo.

Florence Eddy died Thursday, May 31, 1990 at Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland.

She was born April 7, 1918, at Douglas, Wyo., the daughter of Carl C. and Alice L. (Nason) Johnson. She was reared on the family homestead north of Shawnee. She received her education at Shawnee, graduating from the Shawnee High School in 1935. Following graduation she worked with her mother on the family ranch. She was married to J. Leonard Eddy on Dec. 27, 1937, in Hot Springs, S.D. They returned to the family ranch, where she resided and worked until the time of her death. In 1979 she sold part of the ranch, but continued raising registered Appaloosa horses. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Women of the Moose, Converse County Farm Bureau, and the Appaloosa Horse Club.

She is survived by her two children, Carl Eddy and Carol Russell both of Douglas; four grandchildren; two step-children; and five great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1971, and one sister, Lorena Johnson. Serving as pallbearers were Carl Ferrell, Richard Sack, Joe Rankin, Ron Hansen, Earl York, and Gene Keffer.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were all of her many friends.

A memorial to the Converse County Ranchers' Memorial Scholarship Fund or to the American Cancer Society in care of the Converse Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box X, Douglas, Wyo. 82633 would be equally appreciated by the family.

Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
