Gottfried Germann Dies In Washington; Services Here Sunday

Gottfried Germann, 79, of Lusk, died January 28 in St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, Wash. He had been in ill health for the past five years and recently went to Washington to visit a brother. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. from Peet Chapel with Rev. Otha B. Holcomb officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

A mixed quartet composed of Miss Dolores DeCastro, Mrs. Carl Peterson, E. E. Davenport, and Jesse Rice sang "Nearer My God To Thee", "Beyond The Sunset", and "My Faith Looks Up to Thee." Mrs. A. F. DeCastro was organist.

Pallbearers were Eddie Mark, Emerson Bonner, C. E. Marvin, Fred Bruegger, William Speerley and Carl Bruch.

Gottfried Germann was born May 22, 1879 in Switzerland, the son of Peter and Marie Germann. His parents died when he was nine. He then made his home with an uncle who reared him to manhood. He operated a grocery store in his homeland as a young man.

In the year 1908 he married Elsie Klopfer and in 1910 he and Mrs. Germann immigrated to the United States. They made their home in Fairbury., Ill. for a short time. They came to Wyoming in 1911 and homesteaded five miles northeast of Node. The family lived there until 1946 when Mr. Germann retired and moved to Lusk.

Mr. Germann was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lusk. Mrs. Germann died February 2, 1947.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Marguerite Fietz of Lusk; a son, Pete of Node; a brother John of Orchard, Wash.; a sister-in-law, Miss Aline Klopfer of Node; seven grandchildren, Mrs. Alberta McCallister, Baxter Springs, Kan., Janice Fietz, Casper, Edith Fietz, Lusk, Clark, Claudia, John and Georgie Germann, Node and one great grandchild, Lesli Ellen McCallister, Baxter Springs, Kans. Numerous other relatives also survive. A brother, Randolph, previously died.
