Elmer Lester Grant

Funeral services for Elmer Lester Grant, age 69, were held Monday, February 24, 1986 at 2:00 P.M. at the Converse Funeral Chapel with the Pastor Charles Kinyon of the Glenrock Community Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery. The IOOF chapter of Glenrock conducted graveside rites. Mr. Grant died suddenly Friday, February 21, 1986 at the Converse County Memorial Hospital in Douglas.

Elmer, the son of Ulysses S. and Gertrude May (Chamberlin) Grant was born March 17, 1916 at Boxelder, Wyoming. He was reared and educated at Boxelder. His whole life time was spent on a ranch, first ranching with his father and brothers, then in 1970 he started ranching on his own. He was married to Helen Oberg on June 5, 1966 at Glenrock. They lived on Elmer's ranch south of Glenrock, until the time of her death, July 27, 1979. He was then married to Ruth Lindmier Mitchell on September 10, 1979 at Douglas. They resided on a ranch north of Lost Springs. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Wyoming Farm Bureau, Wyoming Stockgrowers, and International Order of Odd Fellows in Glenrock.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Lost Springs; four sisters, Helen Smith of Glenrock; Amy Hanson of Plains, Mont., Bessie Hiser of Glenrock, and Genie Henderson of Denver, Co. and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Jess, John, Allen, and Frank; and one sister, Zelma Hiser.

Serving as pallbearers were John Grant, Lester Grant, Robin Grant, Ken Grant, Lewis Swan, and Scott Swan.

Serving as Honorary pallbearers were Tom Burley, Chester Brock, Gilmore Kennaugh, Fred Grant, Jim Hiser, Richard Rose, Clarence Hershey, Donald Grant, Prosper Etchemendy, Mick Lehner, Ted Lewis, Stan Stewart, Hugh Hiser, and Bill Cross. Memorials to the Ranchers Scholarship Fund or to the Converse County Heart Fund or to the Converse County Cancer Fund would be equally appreciated by the family.

The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
