Mrs. Eikenberry Dies Suddenly of Heart Attack Sat.

Mrs. Fred W. Eikenberry, 74, died suddenly late Saturday afternoon, Oct. 10, from a heart attack with which she was stricken while trading at the Flower Nook. The ambulance was called and she was rushed to the Spencer Hospital where she died at 5:20 p.m. about an hour after she suffered the attack. Although Mrs. Eikenberry had been in poor health for several years she appeared to be feeling much better for a few days prior to her death.

Mr. and Mrs. Eikenberry and children came to Wyoming nearly 40 years ago and homesteaded on land in the Rawhide Buttes community where they lived until 1938. Their son, Howard Eikenberry then took over the ranch and they moved to town where they have since resided. Mrs. Eikenberry was a member of the Congregational Church of Lusk and an active worker in the church activities as long as her health permitted.

Sopronia Herndon Lutes was born December 17, 1878 at Harrison Ville, Mo. the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Lutes. She was married August 26, 1900 to Fred W. Eikenberry and they are the parents of five children. In 1915 they moved to Stapleton, Nebr., from Missouri and then to Wyoming.

Funeral services were conducted from the Peet Chapel Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 13, at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. Jacob Nein, pastor of the Congregational Church officiating.

Music was furnished by members of the Congregational Choir with Mrs. Gerald Bardo as organ accompanist. Songs sung were "Going Down the Valley" and "Sun of My Soul."

Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery with her four sons-in-law, Otto Duguid, Percy Blair, Joe Rovere, Nick Kaan, as well as Menno Kaan and Don C. Taylor acting as casket bearers.

Besides her husband, surviving are daughters, Mrs. Percy Blair of Lander, Mrs. Joe Rovere of Sturgis, S.D., Mrs. Nick Kaan and Mrs. Otto Duguid of Lusk and one son, Howard Eikenberry of Lusk. There are 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
