Edna Bixler, 84, Dies, Returned Here for Burial

Mrs. Milton (Edna) Bixler, 84, of Scottsbluff, died in a Scottsbluff hospital Saturday, and her funeral was held at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Harrison on Tuesday with the Rev. Wayne Tieszen officiating. Burial was in the Harrison Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 12, 1893, at Harrison, and later taught school in Sioux County.

Except for periods of time when she lived in Texas and Wyoming, she lived on a ranch homestead south of Harrison.

She moved to Scottsbluff in 1946 where she had lived since that time.

She was a member of Memorial Methodist Church and was a former member of Royal Neighbors and West Nebraska General Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include her son Monroe of Denver; daughter Mrs. Virginia Cassells of Scottsbluff; sister Mrs. Wanda Cooper of Long Beach, Miss.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton.

Last rites held for Edna Bixler

Funeral services for Edna Bixler, 84, who died Feb. 4 in Scottsbluff, were held Feb. 7 at 2:00 p.m. from Memorial United Methodist Church at Harrison, and interment was in the Harrison Cemetery. The Rev. Wayne Tieszen officiated.

Mrs. Dorothy Todd was organist and Miss Loretta Hanley the soloist. Casketbearers were Charles Bourret, Vernon C. Jones, Lyle Lewis, Russell Lewis, Raymond Riley, and Clarence Schnurr. Honorary bearers were Albert Adams, John Broderick, J. C. McClarey, and E. E. Whiteaker.

Memorials have been established to the Harrison Methodist Church and the First United Methodist Church of Scottsbluff.

Though Mrs. Bixler moved to Scottsbluff in 1946, she kept contact with Harrison people and often visited those from this area in the Scottsbluff hospitals.
