David Scott

David Scott "Dave" Redfield, 49, of Lusk died Sunday, July 15, 2007 at Wyoming Medical Center after a courageous fight with cancer.

He was born Aug. 31, 1957 in Evanston to Elizabeth (Wolfe) and Leroy Redfield. As a boy, his family moved every few years. Dave attended elementary school in California and Junior High in Washington. They moved to Lusk his sophomore year and he enjoyed wrestling, playing his trombone and had lots of school spirit. He graduated from Niobrara County High School in 1975. He attended Casper College aspiring to be a music teacher.

Dave was confirmed in the Lutheran Church and married Jude Lange on May 19, 1979 in Lusk. He was an elder and Sunday school teacher and worked hard completing the new addition.

He was very committed to the community. Dave was in Jaycees, truly loved being a firefighter and served on the Town Council and recreation board. With his children, he became active in Boy Scouts, 4-H shooting sports and school activities. Dave was on the Legend of Rawhide pageant board and was involved in every aspect of it for almost 20 years.

Dave had a wide range of work experience in seismograph, electrical, carpentry, foundry, customer service, sales and as a correctional officer. Because of the support of good friends, Dave was able to attend the Eastern Wyoming College driving daily to Torrington. He earned his certificate in Commercial Refrigeration/Air Conditioning on May 11, 2001.

Dave continued to work for the Covered Wagon Motel while starting his own business, Rawhide Refrigeration.

In his "spare" time, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Dave helped organize his class reunions and enjoyed the special times. He loved listening to the oldies and doing the twist. He never met a stranger and never lost a friend.

Dave is survived by his wife of 28 years, his son, Scott David and daughter, Stephanie Ann; his parents, Leroy and Betty of Lusk, siblings, Leanne Johnson of Grass City, Calif., Becky Redfield of Arnold, Neb., Jon Redfield of Carmel, Calif., and Lisa Goode of Bozeman, Mont., nineteen nieces and nephews and 5 great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Gene Kupke, Doyle Davies, Bob Doctor, Jay Hammond, Rob Akers and John Eddy. Honorary pallbearers are Brett Roetman, Andy Anderson, Joshua Fernau, Colter Lange, Taylor Lange, J.W. Alexander, and Jonathan Alexander.

The family suggests memorials to the Mastersons Place "Home Away From Home" and Niobrara County 4-H Shooting Sports.

Pier Funeral Home in Lusk is in charge of the funeral arrangements
