Mrs. Franzman Dies on Visit Here

Death caine suddenly to Mrs. Theresa Franzman, 75, on Tuesday morning, Dec. 13, at the Spencer hospital after being stricken with a stomach hemorrage the previous afternoon.

Mrs. Franzman came to Lusk on the 13th of November from Glendora, Calif., to visit her son, Lee Lewis and family and her brother, Sam Thomas, Sr., and family and her sister-in-law, Mrs. O.P. Harnagel.

She came to town on Monday with her son, Lee Lewis to go to the Noel Larson home but became ill and was taken to the Ralph Larson home and later to the Spencer hospital when it became apparent she was seriouly ill. She died early the following morning.

Mrs. Franzman was planning to return to her home in California for a family gathering but delaryed her departure a few days so that she might attend the Golden Wedding anniversary of mr. and Mrs. O.P. Harnagel, as her husband is Mrs. Harnagel's half-brother. She passed away the morning of the anniversary.

Funeral services will be held here on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Peet Chapel. Mr. Franzman is ill and it is doubtful if he will be able to come for the services.

Last Rites Held Here for Mrs. Theresa Franzman

Funeral services for Mrs. Theresa Franzman, 75, who died on December 13, were held from the Peet Chapel on December 16, at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Lawrence Juell, Congregational pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. Franzman, visiting here, had taken ill suddenly with a stomach hemorrhage the previous afternoon.

Casket bearers for the funeral were Walter Swope, Earl Hales, Albert DeGering, Hans Meng, E.R. Whitman and Claude VanBlarcum. Music was provided by Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. H. J. Templeton, accompanied by Mrs. J.P. Watson. The duet sang "In the Garden," and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere."

Theresa Thomas was born in Iroquois, Ill., July 23, 1874, to Sam and Adeline Thomas. While still a child, she came west in a covered wagon with her family, settling on a homestead north of Harrison and growing to young womanhood in that community.

She married Thomas Corwin Lewis January 31, 1892, at Story, Neb. They homesteaded on a ranch near the Wyoming-Nebraska line in Sioux County. To them were born three sons, one of whom died in infancy. These boys grew to manhood on the ranch. In 1917 she adopted a daughter.

Leaving the ranch in 1928, she moved to Greybull, managing a rooming house there.

On August 31, 1934, she married Philip K. Franzman in Los Angeles, Calif., and made their home in Glendora. November 11 this year she came to Lusk to visit relatives and friends, planning to return home December 19 in time for Christmas and a reunion of the Franzman families.

She is survived by her husband, two sons, Thomas Lee Lewis of Lusk; Albert Wilton Lewis of Lurray, Va., and one daughter, Minnie Williams, Red Lodge, Mont. Two brothers, Henry Thomas of Miles City, Mont., and Sam Thomas, Sr., of Lusk; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

There are also four step-chi1dren, Rolland Franzman of Inglewood, Calif.; Peter Franzman of Ordway, Colo.; Eva Thompson and Edith Oberhein of Leota, Kan.; ten step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Her father and mother and two brothers and a grandson have preiously died.
