Violet Boatright

Violet Boatright, age 78, of Lusk, passed away on Wednesday at Michael Manor in Douglas. Funeral services were Saturday, March 18, at Ciemanec-Pier Funeral Home in Lusk with the Reverend Marvin Temme of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Torrington officiating. Interment followed in the Lusk Cemetery.

Violet was born on January 10, 1922, in Rushville, Neb., to Fred and Hazel (Mills) Bertram who homesteaded north of Lance Creek. Violet attended country grade school and began high school in Manville and later graduated from Lusk High School in 1939.

She was a waitress for various restaurants in the Lusk community before marrying Reuben Boatright on March 7, 1940. The two then raised two daughters. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben, in 1987 and her parents.

Survivors include two daughters; Terry and her husband Everett Brown of Lusk; Cindy and her husband Ric Olson of Malta, Mont.; grandchildren; Toni and Wally Kant of Lusk; Hope Brown of Cheyenne; Jami Olson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Jodi, Jordan and Jade Olson of Malta, Mont., and one great-granddaughter Coral Kant of Lusk.

A memorial has been established to Michael Manor in Douglas.

Cicmanec-Pier funeral home in Lusk was in charge of arrangements.
