Father of Mrs. Deetjen Dies in England Oct. 15

Mrs. Emily Deetjen learned Friday that her father, Charles Washington Sullivan, 87, had died at his home in Birmingham, England, on Oct. 15.

Mrs. Deetjen had visited her father just this summer and had a birthday party for him July 4. It was because he was born on July 4 that he was given the middle name of the first president of the United States.

Mr. Sullivan had sailed the oceans for 35 years, starting as a cabin boy and rising to the positioin of first class steward. He sailed on many famous ships, and though he was hired on the Lusitania, he missed sailing on its fateful voyage.

Besides Mrs. Deetjen, children surviving include Mrs. Tom Bristow of iverpool and Mrs. Bert Newham of Canyon City, Colo. Mrs. Newham flew to England in August to join the family for a visit.

Mrs. Deetjen went to Glenrock Sunday to spend a few days with her daughter, Mrs. Edwin Kleiber.
