Raymond Carlisle Dies In Nebraska Thurs.

Relatives and friends of Raymond Carlisle of Atkinson, Nebr. and formerly of Van Tassell, Lance Creek and Manville, was saddened to learn of his sudden death last Thursday, May 6. He had become ill while eating supper and was taken to the hospital in Atkinson where he died about 9 p.m.

Raymond Valentine Carlisle was born on February 14, 1893 in Butler County, Nebraska to Franklin Robert and Olie Eaton Carlisle. When a young man, he came to Wyoming and started barbering at Van Tassell. During World War I, he served with the U. S. Navy.

Mr. Carlisle and Esther Carson Zink were married October 29, 1919 at Newport, Nebr. They had three children, Glenn Raymond, Gordon Carl and Lorraine Avis. He homesteaded south of Lance Creek and later had a barber shop and pool hall in Manville. The family returned to Nebraska and settled in Stuart and later moved to Atkinson, where he followed the barbering trade until he retired. He was life member of the American Legion Post in Stuart, which was named for his son, Gordon, who was killed in 1942.

Mr. Carlisle is survived by his wife, Esther of Atkinson; one son, Glenn of Fremont, Nebr.; Mrs. Robert (Lorraine) Johnson; four grandchildren, Roger and Diane Carlisle and Lind and Neal Johnson; six sisters, Mrs. Maggie Connard of Phoenix, Ariz.; Mrs. Maude Johnson of Casper; Mrs. Alice Morrison of Milwaukie, Ore.; Mrs. Nellie Porter of Gordon, Nebr.; Mrs. Lily McCune of Lusk and Mrs. Gladys Veenker of Portland, Ore.

His parents, one son, Glenn; two sisters, Orilla Williams, and Mabel Johnson; three brothers, Harry, Darriel and Leroy, died previously.

Funeral services were held Monday at Atkinson. Relatives attending from this locality were Mrs. Maude Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Eaton, Eulanne and Elaine of Casper, Mrs. Dale Morgan of Thermopolis; Reuben Johnson of Lance Creek, Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Miller of Manville, Mrs. Harry Carlisle and Mrs. Nell Brewer.
