Nick Crelly, 81, Passes Feb. 24th

Nickolas J. Crelly, well known resident of this city passed away early Monday morning, February 24, 1941, bringing to a close a long and useful life. Mr. Crelly had not been feeling well the past few weeks and his condition due to his advanced age was such that he was unable to recuperate satisfactorily. A sudden heart attack proving fatal at about 3:00 a.m., Monday morning, February 24th.

Mr. and Mrs. Crelly came to Niobrara county in 1911, settling about 15 miles southeast of Node where they continued to make their home until about five and a half years ago. A thrifty, industrious man, Mr. Crelly was a good neighbor and friend and thru-out his years in the community gained a host of fine acquaintances. On September 28th, 1940, he and Mrs. Crelly celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary at their home here in Lusk.

Funeral services were held this (Thursday) morning at 10 o'clock at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lusk, with Father Andrew reading the requiem mass. Interment was made in the cemetery at Van Tassell, Wyoming. Casket bearers were Tom Pfister, Mike Keuster, Andrew McMaster, Harry Burham and Frank A. Barrett.

Nickolas James Crelly, son of Thomas and Mary Burke Crelly, was born in Benton County, Iowa, March 8, 1859 and passed away at Lusk, Wyoming, aged 81 years, 11 months and 21 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Fretz, September 28, 1880, there being six children born to bless this union, five of whom survive toghether with his widow. The children are Tom, of Keystone, Iowa; Mrs. Porter Slattery and Mrs. Mary Muters, both of Spencer, So. Dak.; Mrs. Florence Grimm of Lusk; and Phil, of Atlanta, Idaho.

Mr. and Mrs. Crelly moved from Iowa to Spencer, South Dakota in 1903, remaining there eight years, then moving to Niobrara county, Wyoming in 1911 where they have resided since.

Nick Crelly was a good husband and a kind and throughtful father. Throughout his long life he worked hard and took an active interest in the welfare of his home community. Blessed with a fine home and children his was a life of happiness and contentment over a period of many years. Although past nearly 82 years of age he was quite active until his last illness, walking several blocks to town almost every day during the year.
