George Pullen, 88, Dies in Crawford

George Pullen, old time resident of Lusk, died at his home in Crawford this Wednesday morning at the age of 88.

He is the father of Mrs. Hazel Hall and grandfather of Mrs. Gemila Stetson, both of Lusk. Other survivors include another daughter, Mrs. Ethel Pickering of Crawford and three other grandchildren, Mrs. Velma Bowman of Thermopolis; Mrs. Wanda Engelbretsen, Keeline, and Mrs. Arlene Leggett of Laurel, Mont., and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held from the Methodist church in Crawford Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

Obituary of George Pullen Is Published

George Pullen died at his home in Crawford at the age of 87. He was born at Decator, Neb., in Burt County April 11, 1866. In 1887 he moved to Crawford with his parents and was associated with his father in farming west of Fort Robinson.

He was married to Emma Lake Whitney on October 19, 1884. Two daughters were born, Hazel Hall of Lusk and Ethel Pickering of Crawford.

During his life Mr. Pullen was engaged in various types of work, having broken prairie with oxen and hauled freight from Deadwood to Lead in the Black Hills before the railroads were built. He was also engaged in the restaurant business in Crawford, and at one time operated the Commericial Hotel there. In later years he moved to Lusk and oprated a bakery and restaurant. He worked for a time for the railroad in the Lusk-Node vicinity and then moved to Crawford, where he resided until his death. His wife died May 4, 1930.

He is survived by his two daughters, one brother, Fred Pullen of Port Angelus, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Gena Vanlandingham of Missoula, Mont.; one stepson, Ray Whitney of Grass Creek, Wyo.; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Interment was in the Crawford Cemetery on May 1.
