Elsie Walter Dies Here Thurs.

Elsie Walter, 77, of Lusk died in her sleep April 30 at the home of her nephew, Walter Schnorenberg, Sr. from a cerebral hemorage. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. from Peet Chapel with Richard Scott officiating. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. Hobart Cockreham and E. E. Davenport sang "Beautiful Isle" and "Under His Wing." Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist.

Pallbearers were Hill Boyles, Roy Boyles, Otto Vondra, Pete Vondra, Howard Smith and Rulo Roberts.

Elsie Louise Walter, daughter of Theodore H. and Emma Kelp Walter was born Febraury 9, 1882 at Fillmore, Wisc.

Her mother died when she was six years old, leaving a family of five children. They continued to make their home on the farm where she grew to womanhood.

In 1904 she moved with her father and three brothers to Edmondson, Canada. Later moving to Billings, Mont. where she worked as a cook spending her summers cooking at Yellowstone National Park.

She came to Van Tassell in 1926 to care for an invalid sister and continued to make her home there. She and Benjamin Spaeth were married August 3, 1927. In 1934 she moved to Lusk to make her home. She has been in poor health for a number of years, but continued to live alone until the last week.

Survivors include one brother, Edgar O. Walter of Ontario, Ore.; four nieces and two nephews and numerous other relatives. Her parents, one sister, Mrs. Agnes Spaeth and two brothers, Gustave and Theodore previously died.
