Adelyn C. Johnson

The Prayer Vigil for Adelyn C. Johnson, 79, was held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1992, in the Bader-Peet Mortuary Chapel. The funeral liturgy was today (Wednesday), Oct. 28, 1992, at 10 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic church in Lusk, co-celebrated by Rev. Patrick Shea and Rev. John Murray. The Rite of committal and burial followed at the Lusk Cemetery.

Johnson died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1992, at the Converse County Hospital in Douglas. She was born Aug. 25, 1913, at Hemingford, Neb., the daughter of Michael J. and Emma (Annen) Tschacher. The family moved to Wyoming in 1930, settled in the Keeline-Manville area. She graduated from Manville High School in 1932.

She married Edmund J. Brooks on Nov. 17, 1933, and they began ranching south of Manville, acquiring a homestead. Adelyn and Edmund were blessed with four children; Ralph E., Donald E., Gary R. and Sharon K.

In 1945 Edmund passed away and Adelyn moved into Manville. In September 1951 she married "Gus" Verner Johnson of Manville. He was employed by a major oil company and they made their home in Wyoming, Colorado and Oklahoma. Upon retirement, they returned to Manville to make their home.

Johnson was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church in Lusk. She was very active in V.F.W. Auxiliary, Bryant-Kant Post, and the Manville Homemaker's Club. She especially enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends.

Besides her first husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Ralph in 1950, her parents, (?) brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her husband, Gus Johnson, her three children; Donald, Gary and Sharon.

Bader-Peet Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
