'Gil' Hobbs, Old-Timer, Passes On

Gilbert Fowler Hobbs, 69 years old, an old-time resident of this section of Wyoming, died at his ranch, near Rawhide Buttes, last Sunday, Sept. 9, at 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the home of his sister, Mrs. Kate Fowler, interment being in the Lusk Cemetery. Rev. Farrar of the Baptist church officiated, and arrangements were made by the Armstrong Funeral Parlors.

Mr. Hobbs had been in poor health for some time and death was not unexpected. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Kate Fowler of Lusk, Mrs. Flora Slaymaker of Willow, and Mrs. Emma Miner of New York, and one brother, Will Hobbs of Pinedale, Wyo.

The pallbearers were John F. Harkin, Dan Chalfant, Bob Burhoop, Mr. Stevens, Chris Joss and Tom Black.

Gilbert Fowler Hobbs was born in Linn county, Missouri, on February 12, 1859. In 1861 he came with his parents to Nebraska, where he lived until 1887, when he came to Lusk, that he might assist his father in caring for the ranch on Rawhide, and it was there he passed away at the age of 69 years, 7 months and 27 days.
