FINAL SERVICES FOR JOHN ROBERT ORD ARE HELD IN LUSK SUNDAY

Funeral Services for John Robert Ord, who passed away at a hospital in Lincoln, Nebr., on Thursday, February 8th, were held from the Congregational church of this city at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, February 11th, Rev. Edwin F. Irwin, pastor, officiating.

Delivering a touching sermon on the life of this young man, Reverend Irwin paid a fine tribute to the deceased for the outstanding manner in which he had lived, the high ideals he fostered, and his rank among his fellow classmates, and the work he had planned for the future. Many friends were present to pay their respects to their friend of years.

The mixed quartet, composed of Mrs. H.J. Templeton, Mrs. Edna Howard DeCastro, J.M. Hungate and R.A. Faulk, sang, "Nearer My God to Thee," and "Lead, Kindly Light." Mrs. John Parr accompanied at the piano.

A group of young men, all schoolday chums of the deceased, carried the remains to the Lusk cemetery, where interment was made. They were Jake Lorenzen, Ernest Hansen, Robert Wolfe, Robert Goddard, Roger Percival and Donald Olinger. Funeral arrangments were under the direction of the Midwest Funeral Home of this city.

John Robert was stricken while at his classes in the University of Nebraska on Thursday, February 1st, and when removed to a hospital, it was found that he was suffering from a ruptured appendix. An operation was performed, but the young man's system had already absorbed the poison and after a week of valiant fighting for his life, he succumbed.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mamie Ord, who lives south of this city on the family's Rawhide creek ranch;; three sisters, Mrs. Marjorie Darrow, of Rochester, N.Y.; Mrs. Jeanette Sager, who lives on the ranch with her husband and mother, and Miss Gertrude Ord, of Lusk.
