Robert Ord Darrow

Robert Ord "Bob" Darrow was born in Rochester, N.Y. to George W. and Marjorie Ord Darrow. He was predeceased by his brother George. After attending grade school in Brighton, N.Y., he attended and graduated from Lusk, Wyoming High School. Service in the Marine Corps in Korea followed by two years at CU Boulder. Bob graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1958 and married Beverly Ann Jack. Together they proudly raised three daughters: Cathy Darrow (Blair, Max and Chloe Weigum). Deedee Goebel, (Cody and Madelyn) and Wendy (Craig) Cook, (Jaden and Jack). Bob operated his families' ranch in eastern Wyoming until moving to Lakewood in 1970 and founding the institutional fixed income bond department at Merrill Lynch. He served 26 years as Lakewood City Treasurer modernizing investment practices, enhancing potential returns and portability of city retirement plans and limiting tax payer liabilities. He was active in many community activities including Masons, Shrines, golf and politics including managing numerous political campaigns on the local county and statewide level.

Bob passed away April 22, 2016. Ashes will be placed at the family cemetery at the ranch where he was responsible for restocking elk to their native range. A memorial reception will be held at The club at Rolling Hills on May 7, 2016 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "Historical Jay Em on The Rawhide" c/o Lanette Sager, 208 Troy Ct., Evanston, WY 82930 or to a charity of your choice, Jay Em is a 501(c3) dedicated to preserving and restoring a frontier village in Eastern Wyoming.
