MRS. LEE WALTS PASSES AWAY WEDNESDAY

Mrs. Lee Walts, 60 years of age, passed away at the Manring Convalescent Home Wednesday evening, February 15th, from cancer.

Although a sufferer from cancer, Mrs. Walts was as well as usual until about 11 o'clock Monday night, when she suddenly became very ill and was brought to the Home Wednesday afternoon, passing away there that evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Walts and family moved to Wyoming last June from Lakeside, Neb., and have been living on a ranch near the D.J. Clark place about 30 miles north of Lusk.

Mrs. Walts is survived by her husband and three children. Burial arrangements are in charge of the Peet Mortuary, but definite arrangements are being delayed until the arrival of a son from Rushville, Neb. It may be that the body will be taken to Rushville for burial.

An autopsy was performed early Thursday morning by Dr. Reckling and Dr. Murphy. A cancer upon one of the large intestines was discovered, which was the cause of her death.

MRS. NETTIE WATTS, (sic) 60 DIES HERE YESTERDAY AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS

Mrs. Nettie Walts, a resident of the vicinity north of Hat Creek, passed away at the Manring Convalescent home here at 7 o'clock last (Wednesday) evening, following an illness of but two days duration. The deceased was 60 years of age. Death was caused by a complete obstruction of the bowels due to a growth.

Mrs. Walts became suddenly ill at the farm home Tuesday night at 11 o'clock. Medical aid was summoned and Dr. G. D. Murphy arrived there early Wednesday morning to find the woman in an unconscious condition. She was brought to this city but failed to respond to treatment. An autopsy was performed following her demise and the cause then definitely determined.

The deceased is survived by her husband and two sons who live at the family home north of here, and also by one son of a former marriage.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed, but services will be held under the direction of George Earl Peet of the Peet mortuary.

This family moved to this county last June and took up residence on a homestead. They came here from Lakeside, Nebr.

Card of Thanks

We desire to thank those people of Lusk and especially the Lusk Chapter of Red Cross, for the many kindnesses and expressions of sympathy shown in our recent bereavement, the illness and death of our beloved wife and mother, Mrs. Nettie Walts.

Lee Walts and Family.

Note: There are many discrepancies in the information available, but it appears that although this says she was age 60, and some records say she was born in 1873, including her gravestone, the 1870 census said she was 3, and the 1880 census said she was 13, so we have used another date we found for her birthdate, which is 1867.
