Brother of Sam Thomas Dies in Montana Fri.

Henry Thomas, 74, former Wyoming rancher and brother of Sam Thomas Sr. of Lusk, died late Friday afternoon at his ranch home in the Tongue River area of Montana after a long illness.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Bray's Mortuary, with the Elks Lodge and Rev. John B. Fitz in charge of the services. Interment was in the family plot in the Custer county Cemetery.

Henry Thomas was born in Illinois, November 9, 1880, the son of Sam and Adeline Thomas. While he was still a child his parents moved to Iowa and later took up a homestead northwest of Harrison close to the Wyoming line. The later trip they took by covered wagon.

November 25, 1915 he married Miss Esther I. Hamlin, a Harrison resident who had formerly lived in the Kirtley area. For a period of more than ten years he and his father were associated on the home ranch. Then in 1926 Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thomas moved to a ranch on Antelope Creek near Bill, between Douglas and Gillette and in 1941 moved to their present home nine miles south of Miles City.

Mr. Thomas was a member of the Elks Lodge of Miles city and of the Range Riders, Inc.

Besides his wife, Mr. Thomas is survived by a son, Sydney B., on the home ranch; a daughter, mrs. Flora L. Rask of Miles City; a brother, Sam Thomas Sr. of Lusk; three grandchildren and several nephews, including Lee Lewis of Lusk and Ralph Thomas of Cody.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas and Lee Lewis, a nephew, attended the funeral.

Henry Thomas, 74, rancher in Montana and Wyoming for 30 years, died late Friday afternoon at his ranch home in the Tongue River area after a long illness.

Memorial services are planned Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Memorial Chapel of Bray's mortuary. The Elks lodge and the Rev. John B. Fitz will be in charge of the services and interment will be in the family lot of the Custer County cemetery.

Mr. Thomas was born in Illinois Nov. 9, 1880. When he was a child his parents moved to Iowa and then to Nebraska, making the second trip by covered wagon.

On Nov. 25, 1915, Mr. Thomas was married to Esther I. Hamlin in Harrison, Neb. For a period they made their home in Nebraska and then moved to a ranch between Douglas and Gillette, Wyo., in 1926. In 1941 they moved to the present ranch nine miles south of Miles City.

Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Flora L. Rask, Miles City; a son, Sidney B. on the ranch; a brother, Sam F., Lusk, Wyo., and three grandchildren.

He was a member of the Elks lodge here and of the Range Riders, Inc.
