Shirley Mary Burt

Memorial services for Shirley Burt, 47, was held at the Peet Mortuary Chapel yesterday, Wednesday, April 28 with the Rev. Tom Karnes officiating.

Shirley M. Burt was born October 1, 1934 at Deadwood, S.D., the daughter of Arnold and Katherine Schiefer. She died April 25, at Niobrara Memorial hospital following a long illness.

She grew up in Newcastle and Lusk, graduating from Lusk High School in 1954. On January 19, 1957 she married William G. Burt at Rapid City. They made their home in Buffalo, S.D. and Newcastle before moving to Lance Creek. Mrs. Burt was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Lance Creek Community Church.

Music for the service was by Karen Edinger, organist and Carolyn Hammond and Betty Oehlert who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset." Active bearers were Sven Johnson, Robert Sides, Robert Blaney, Robert Graves, William Fitzwater and Darrell Deuel.

Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Niobrara Memorial Hospital or to the cancer fund.

Mrs. Burt was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. She is survived by her husband of Lance Creek, three daughters, Jackie Burt and Linda Linglebach, both of Lusk and Kathy Shoopman of Bowman, N.D.; one son William A. Burt of Lance Creek; two brothers Clarence Schiefer of Eaton, Colo., and Thomas Schiefer of Kennai, Alaska; two grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
