Evelyn Arlene Arends
Evelyn Arlene Garhart Arends was born Jan. 10, 1937, to Vern and Evelyn Garhart in Douglas and was called home to be with our Lord on April 16, 2020.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Vernell Marcel Arends, her parents; sisters, Nila, Joann, Carol and Marcia. She is survived by her sister, Verna Pfister Hawley, her three children: son Vernell Arends (Mari) of Douglas; daughter LaVonne Skrukrud (Todd) of Lusk; son Douglas Arends of North Dakota; foster son Marion Bergheger of Lusk; grandchildren Brandon Arends of Douglas; Brianna Pexton (Jordan) of Douglas, Kiffani Skrukrud of Lusk, Kaci Jo Skrukrud of Casper, Joseph Arends of North Dakota, Jecelyn Arends of North Dakota, and Kaleb Arends of North Dakota; three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Arlene was born in Douglas, as it was the nearest hospital to Lance Creek, where her older sister waited at home for her. She lived in Lance Creek until the family moved to Manville during her grade school days. She graduated Manville High School and shortly after moved to Denver, Colo.
She met the love of her life, Vern Arends, at a Rocky Bilt Restaurant where she worked as a waitress. They were married on Feb. 5, 1959. They had three children: Vernell, LaVonne and Doug. Marion joined the family in 1968.
Vern and Arlene had many journeys together. The last one, leading them back to Wyoming. After Arlene’s husband passed away, in 1990, she moved from Casper to Lusk to make her home.
Arlene always loved living close to her sisters. The extended family enjoyed many family outings together, fishing, camping, and vacations. There are many fond and sometimes funny memories of the many adventures of the families.
Arlene was forever the prankster and would bring a smile and a chuckle to friends and family. To know Arlene was to always have someone in your corner, she was a fiercely loyal person. She was very loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
There will be private interment service at Dellview Cemetery, with a family celebration at a later date.
Serving as Pallbearers are nephews Jack Pfister, David Pfister, Gary Pfister, grandchildren, Brandon, Brianna, Kiffani, Kaci Jo, Joseph, and Jecee.
Honorary Pallbearers are her grandchild Kaleb, her three great-grandchildren and the many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend the deepest gratitude to Dr. Casey Cotant, Dr. Robert Neff, and Dr. Vishwanath Pattan for the many years of compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials/Donations may be made in Arlene Arends memory to Niobrara Community Hospital Long Term Care or a charity of your choice.
A private burial took place at the Dellview Cemetery in Manville. Pier Funeral Home of Lusk was in charge of arrangements.
