John E. McCluskey

John E. McCluskey, aged 80 years, 4 months and 5 days, passed away at the home of his son, Harry, on Wednesday evening, May 16th.

He was born in Kentucky, on January 11, 1848. At the age of 10 years he migrated, by way of ox team, with his parents to Iowa, where he grew to manhood.

He was married December 17, 1876, to Miss Ella Jackson. To this union three sons were born. William, who succumbed to injuries received in an auto accident at Thurman, Iowa, In July of last year; Earl R., who,  with his family resides in Montana, and Harry, who with his wife live on their ranch at Divide, are well and favorably known here.

The widow, Mrs. Ella McCluskey, survives the deceased, and makes her home with her son, Harry.

Although one of a family of twelve children, there is but one brother surviving, W.S. McCluskey of Thurman, Iowa.

Mr. McCluskey joined the Baptist Church in Iowa when a boy of 17 years and remained steadfast to that faith until his demise.

About six months ago he went to Montana for a visit with his son Earl. While there he suffered an attack of the the flu. After recovering in part he came to the home of his son Harry for a visit. About a month ago it became evident that he was losing his fight for recovery, and on Wednesday, May 16th, he passed away.

Services were held at the Baptist church last Saturday, with Rev. B.F. Farrar officiating.

Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Universal Undertaking Parlors and internment was made in the Lusk cemetery.
