Karen Francis Whitney

A service to honor Karen Morris Whitney, 82, will be held Saturday, February
8, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. at the Newcastle Senior Center, a visitation will
follow. Cremation has taken place with the remains to be buried in the
Lusk Cemetery under the direction of Pier Funeral Home.

Karen passed away peacefully at Shepherd of the Valley Nursing Home on
January 28, 2025. Karen Francis was born to Harold and Sylvia (Peterson)
Hammell. She attended the Cheyenne River School and Edgemont High School
graduating in 1960. In 1962 she married Richard Morris. They had
two children, Fern and Cody. She was a mother and housewife and then
later worked the First State Bank of Newcastle. Then she moved to Casper
and worked for B & T Fabrication. In 2002 she married Dee
Whitney. They enjoyed traveling together. She is preceded in death
by her first husband, Dick Morris and one brother-in-law, Les Marty.
Karen is survived by husband Dee Whitney, children Fern (Larry) Morris and Cody
(Jeanette), siblings Mickey (Joy) Hammell, Shirley Marty and Bonnie (Mike)
Hammell, grandsons Tye (Angie) and Brandon (Deryn), one great-granddaughter
Reyna and many nieces and nephews.
