Funeral Services Held in Lusk Sat. For Harold Hammell

Harold Albert Hammell, 57, of the Cheyenne River area, died at his ranch home Tuesday, Aug. 18, of a heart attack. Funeral services were held at the Peet Mortuary of Lusk Saturday, Aug. 22, at 2:00 p.m. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

The Rev. Delbert Dick of Wheatland officiated. Mrs. James Bastion of Edgemont, S. D. was organist. Dr. James Bastion was soloist and sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden."

Casket bearers were Harold Yeager, Tom Beebe, Grant Sutherland, Eddie Rumney, Keith Morse and Joe Kane.

He was born the son of James T. and Isabella Hammell March 28, 1913, at their ranch home in northern Niobrara County. He spent his life ranching first with his father, and then he operated the ranch after his father's death. In the spring of the year he worked as a sheep shearer.

On August 8, 1939, he married Sylvia Peterson at Newcastle, Wyo.

Survivors include his widow Sylvia of the family home; three daughters, Karen E. Morris of Osage; Shirley J. Hammell of Newcastle and Bonnie L. Hammell of Hot Springs, S. D., a son Mickey W. of Casper; a sister Doris Bolin of Ketchikan, Alaska; and a brother Thomas J. Hammell of Edgemont, S.D.; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
