Dale Brent Wickersham

Dale Brent Wickersham was born on March 7, 1963, to Doris (Dout) and Norman Wickersham. He was the youngest of six siblings, growing up on a ranch north of Harrison, Nebraska. He passed away on June 29, 2026, at his home with his family nearby.
Dale was a 1981 graduate of Sioux County High School, where he was the valedictorian. After graduating high school, he earned a petroleum engineering degree from the University of Wyoming. He began his career in the oil industry before founding his own company, Wickersham Consulting. He left his mark in the industry, with some people admiring him and others cussing him as “that old walrus.”
Family became the center of Dale’s life when he welcomed his five children. These kids were his greatest source of pride, as well as the bane of his existence. He spent the rest of his life bragging about them and bossing them around. He helped instill in each of them a strong work ethic, drive for excellence and kind devotion to their loved ones.
Dale appreciated spending time with friends, sharing drinks and exchanging wild stories. He also enjoyed a good debate, regularly arguing politics, religion, or really, anything under the sun. He didn’t necessarily care which side he was arguing, even switching sides in the middle just to watch his opponent squirm a bit with confusion. He loved to host get-togethers, especially when his company included kids to throw a line in the pond to see what they could catch. Though his personality was not for everyone, he was intensely loyal to his friends and loved ones. If you needed advice, a hard truth, or a helping hand, Dale was usually willing to offer all three.
Dale was an avid collector. His impressive car collection was matched only by his collections of art, books, tequila, and Amazon boxes. His home was filled with trinkets, art, and knick-knacks from around the world. Each had an interesting story connected to it, either about its acquisition, the proprietor he got it from, or the person from whom he received it.
Travel helped satisfy Dale’s curiosity. Whether exploring the United States, Mexico, or Thailand, he never came home without a new story, a new friend, or another treasure for his collection. He loved Puerto Vallarta so much he even bought a home there, where he spent much of his time throughout the year.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Norrie and Doris Wickersham, his brother Bruce Wickersham, and niece Stephanie Wickersham.
Dale left behind his children: Brandon and Fathom Wickersham, Eric and Kim Wickersham, Britoney and Andy Sprouse, Wesley and Diana Wickersham, and Gary Wickersham; his fourteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his siblings: Becky and George Serres, Scott Wickersham, Mike Wickersham and Abby Edmund, Neal Wickersham; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Dale, and his unforgettable mustache, will live on in the stories we tell, the lessons he taught, and the hearts of all who knew him.
