William Kumpf

William Louis John Kumpf was born Nov. 2, 1901 at San Antonio, Texas, the son of Wilhelm and Pauline Kumpf. He died May 21, 1984 at Park Manor Nursing Home in Rawlins.

He married Ollie Virginia Wright on Dec. 6, 1930 at San Antonio. From 1930 to 1969, he managed hotels for Hidalgo Oil and Gas Co., coming to Lusk in 1963 to manage the Ranger Hotel. He retired in 1969, but was employed as a cashier at the Coffee Cup Cafe for several years.

Ill health forced a move to the nursing home in Rawlins about four years ago. Mr. Kumpf was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Shriners while in Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers and one sister.

He is survived by one son William L. Kumpf, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Sandra Ward Kumpf, two grandchildren, Kari Sue and William Charles, all of Lander, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held at Lusk Cemetery Friday, May 25, 1984 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Roy Howell officiating. Pallbearers were George Dixon, Merle Hahn, Don Whiteaker and Robert Templeton.

Peet Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
