Harriet Lecher

Harriet Lecher, age 62, of Chadron passed away at her home on Sunday Feb. 13, 2005. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Chadron. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Reverend Edward P. Courtney officiating. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Chadron.

Harriet Eileen Burk was born Dec. 31, 1942, at Chadron, Neb. the first daughter of Harry and Eileen (Leeling) Burk.

She was raised and educated in Chadron, graduating with the class of 1961 from Chadron High School. On June 25, 1960, she married Bernard Nicolas Lecher at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Chadron.

In 1964, Harriet and Bernard moved to Crawford, Neb. where they remained until 1988 when they moved back to Chadron. While in Crawford, Harriet was employed at the Crawford State Bank for 6+ years. Shortly after moving to Chadron, Harriet went to work at the Chadron Medical Clinic where she worked until 2004.

Harriet enjoyed collecting Boyd's Bears and Precious Moments figurines and the three dogs that she and Bernard had over the years. She enjoyed attending as many school functions and activities of her children and grandchildren as she could. She also enjoyed visiting with friends and relatives.

She is survived by her husband, Bernard Nicolas Lecher, Sr. of Chadron; three sons, Nick Lecher and wife Liz, of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; Mike Lecher and wife Diana of Chadron; and Chris Lecher and wife Christy of St. James, Minn.; her mother, Eileen Allsup and husband Wilbur of Lusk; five grandchildren; Alex, Jessica, Sarah, Keely, and Ashley; two sisters, Sonja Alexander and husband, Eldon of Manville, Wyo. and Colleen York of Rapid City, S.D. She is also survived by numerous other relatives.

Her father Harry Burk preceded her in death.
