Inez W. Thayer

Services for Inez W. Thayer, 79, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1992, in the Bader-Peet Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Roy Siewert of the First Congregational Church of Casper officiating. Burial will follow in the Lusk Cemetery.

Thayer died Thursday evening, Sept. 17, 1992, at her home in Lusk. She was born May 2, 1913, at Crawford, Neb., the daughter of Chauncey W. Wolff and Addie Fern Hodge Wolff. When she was very young, the family moved north of Lusk to homestead acreage in the Indian Creek area adjacent to Chauncey's brother, Milo Wolff. Thayer attended rural schools there and graduated from Lusk High School in 1932.

On Feb. 10, 1934, she married Herman Franklin Thayer. They lived in Crawford, Rushville and Gordon, Neb., and returned to their beloved Lusk in 1938, which became their permanent home. To this union two daughters were born.

The Thayers were self-employed in a building construction and contracting business. Later she also enjoyed clerking local auctions for Art's Auction Service. In retirement, she loved her home, flowers, family, friends and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1983 and a brother, Orin, who died at the age of two years.

Survivors include her two daughters, Shirley M. Hawkins of Casper and Luella Lee Judd and husband Ben Judd of Douglas; one sister, Mabel F. Thayer of Harrison, Neb.; grandchildren, Richelle Hawkins of Casper and Shane Judd of Douglas; one aunt, one uncle, many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

For those who wish, memorials to the American Heart Association or to the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital in Lusk will be appreciated by the family.
