Chauncey Wolff Victim of Heart Attack Febr. 19

Chauncey Wolff, 55, a resident of Lusk the past two years, died suddenly Wednesday morning, Feb. 19th, shortly after he was taken to the hospital suffering from a severe heart attack.

Mr. Wolff is quite well known among the older residents of the community and for many years made his home in the vicinity of Whitman, northeast of Lusk. He had been ill with influenza during the holidays and while somewhat improved, his recovery was not complete. Wednesday morning he suffered a sudden heart attack and a physician was called and after administering first aid he was removed to the hospital, however he grew steadily weaker and passed away about an hour later.

Mr. Wolff is survived by his wife two daughters, Mrs. Herman Thayer of Lusk, and Mrs. Charles Thayer of Harrison, Nebr. He also leaves three brother and a sister. Milo Wolff, well known resident of the Whitman community is a brother of the deceased, however, names of the others were not available when The Herald went to press Wednesday.

Funeral arrangements had not been completed Wednesday evening. It was learned that burial will be made at Crawford, Nebraska.

OBITUARY

The Lusk Herald, March 6, 1941

Chauncey W. Wolff, eldest son of Ferdinand and Mary Ethey Wolff was born at Evansville, Wisconsin, May 31, 1885, and passed from this life at Lusk, Wyoming, Feb. 19, 1941 aged 55 years, 8 months and 19 days.

At the age of one year he moved with his parents from Wisconsin to Dawes County, Nebraska where they settled on a tree claim about four miles north of Crawford, where he grew to manhood.

He was untied in marriage to Addie Fern Hodge on July 16, 1912 at Crawford, Nebraska. To this union were born three children. Left to mourn his departure are his wife, Addie Fern Wolff, two daughters, Mrs. Inez Thayer of Lusk and Mrs. Mabel Thayer of Harrison, Nebraska.

Other survivors are three brothers, John of Crawford, Nebr., Milo of Whitman, Wyo., Fred of Henry, Nebr., and one sister, Mrs. Merle Ward of Mitchell, Nebraska, and two grand-daughters, Shirley May and Luella Lee Thayer of Lusk and a number of nieces and nephews.

His parents and infant son Orin Evert and a sister Mrs. Grace Finley, also a sister Minnie and two brothers preceded him in death.

After his marriage he lived on his father's farm near Crawford, Nebr. In the spring of 1916 Mr. and Mrs. Wolff moved to Niobrara County where they took up a homestead five miles north of Whitman, Wyo., where they lived many years.

While there he took an active interest in all community activities and was ever willing to extend a helping hand.

He was forced to give up his ranch which he sold last spring and moved to Lusk where they were residing while he was constructing a home, which he had not completed at the time of his death. He was always a kind and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed not only by his family, but by a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Peet Mortuary Chapel in Lusk on Friday agrernoon, Feb. 21, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Farbre of Harrison, Nebr. in charge. Casket bearers were his former neibors and friends Earl Hales, Henry Kraft, John Burge, Claude Van Blarcum, Estle Whitman, and John Swope. Interment was made in the Crawford cemetery,.
