Helen Marsteller, Harrison Native, Dies January 12

Mrs. John W. Marsteller, native of Harrison, died last Wednesday at the Chadron Hospital at the age of 70.

Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Shrout officiating. Music was played by Mrs. Ruth Hall at the organ and Mrs. Josephine Kennedy of Chadron singing. Pallbearers were Elmer Pullen, Ord Anstey, E. E. Whiteaker, Clarence Dout, Jess Locker and Fred Hamaker.

The Eastern Star service was conducted by Mrs. Jess Locker and Elmer Pullen. Interment was in the Harrison Cemetery.

Helen Irene Marsteller was born to Charles and Clara Unitt, December 21, 1901, at Harrison. She attended Harrison Grade School and graduated from the Sioux County High School in 1921.

She married John W. Marsteller June 29, 1924 and four children were born to them.

She is survived by her husband, one son Richard; two daughters-in-law, Florence and Rose; four grandchildren, John Scott, Robert Lee, Michael Richard and David John; three step-grandchildren, Richard E., Christal D., and Kimberly R. and one sister Mrs. Lola Wasserburger of Edgemont, S.D.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant daughters; one son John C.; a grandson Mark Richard; three brothers, Bernard Unitt (who died as an infant) Phil and Wayne Unitt; one sister Mrs. Mary Lacy.

Mrs. Marsteller was a charter member of Sioux Chapter 319 Order of Eastern Star of which she had been the secretary since 1948. She was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church.

Out-of-town guests here for the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cherry and Earl Cherry of Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kennedy and Mr. and Mrs. Rex Coffee of Chadron, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wefso of Rushville, Mrs. Louise Lindsey of Custer, S.D., Mrs. Lola Wasserburger, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Wasserburger and Warren Wasserburger of Edgemont, S.D., Mr. and Mrs. Tom Miller and boys of Fort Collins, Colo., Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hoffman, Mrs. Pat Holmgren, Mrs. Jerry Eberspecher, Mrs. B. Carlson, Mrs. Fannie McWilliams, Marie Hoffman and Mrs. Francis Furtak all of Crawford.
