Mrs. McCleerey Dies Here Mon.

Mrs. John W. McCleerey, 80, of Lusk, died Monday evening at the Niobrara County Memorial Hospital from the infirmities of old age. (Account of funeral has been omitted from this copy.)

Survivors include her husband; two daughters: Mrs. Albert Hoy of Lusk and Mrs. Tom McCoy of McCall, Ida.; three sons: Floyd McCleerey, Manville; Earl McCleerey, Arlington, Va.; and Owen McCleerey of Cal.

The American Legion Auxiliary will sit in a body at the services.

Funeral services for Mrs. John W. McCleerey, 80, of Lusk were held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. from the Peet Chapel with Rev. Otha B. Holcomb, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Lusk, officiating. Members of the Silver Cliff Chapter of American War Mothers paid final tribute. Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. Carl Peterson, Mrs. Otha Holcomb and Mrs. A. F. DeCastro sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In The Garden". Mrs. J. P. Watson was organist.

Pallbearers were Roy McLain, Robert Black, W. C. Glandt, Harry Carlisle, Donley Unruh and Johnnie Thon.

Sophia Margaret Lloyd was born April 8, 1879 in Tampico, Ill., the daughter of Owen and Sophia Lloyd. Her mother died when she was an infant, leaving her to be reared by family and relatives. The family later moved to Iowa where she spent her early life.

June 17, 1906 she and John W. McCleery were married at Smithland, Ia. With the first four years of their marriage spent on a farm in Iowa. They came to Lusk in February of 1910 and homesteaded eight miles south of Lusk, in the Royal Valley Community, returning to Iowa in 1914. They resided there until 1943, when they returned to Lusk to make their home near their children.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lusk, a life member of the American War Mothers and numerous other community clubs.

Survivors include her husband, three sons, Floyd of Manville, Earl, Alexandria, Va., Owen Santa Monica, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Tom McCoy, McCall, Ida.; and Mrs. Albert Hoy, Lusk; ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. Five half brothers, Henry H., James T, Robert C. and Griffin T.Lloyd of Iowa, Lewis R. Lloyd of Ore. and a half sister, Gertia A Christman of Iowa also survive.

One son, Ralph, was killed World War II, and another son died in infancy. Nine brothers also previously died.
