Funeral Held for Mrs. O. L. Fox

Funeral service for Mrs. O. L. Fox was held at Memorial United Methodist Church in Harrison last Thursday and burial was in the Harrison Cemetery. Mrs. Harry Holmberg, Christian Science Reader from Chadron, and the Rev. Larry Strout officiated.

Pallbearers were Ted Davis, Virgil Howard, Jim Howard, Carl Engebretsen, John Engebretsen, and Kenneth Piper.

Honorary pallbearers were Harold Skavdahl, Tress Powell, J. A. McClarey, W. E. Mumby, Clarence Schnurr, John Zimmerman, Herman Peterson, Albert Bunge, and Everett Parmely. Powell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Gertrude Elizabeth Howard was born on April 28, 1886, at Madison County, Iowa, to David and Mondana Howard, and died on May 21, in Crawford at the age of 87.

She grew to womanhood in and near Madison County, Iowa. On January 25, 1905, she married Orval L. Fox of near Dexter, Iowa. Six sons were born, four of whom preceded their mother in death.

In 1907 the couple and young sons Ivol and Floyd moved to Sioux County, Neb., where they homesteaded and ranched until 1960. They then moved to Crawford where they made their home until her death.

Mrs. Fox was a member of the Crawford Christian Church. She was past noble grand of the Rebekah Lodge, and a member of the Eastern Star Lodge.

Surviving are her husband, Orval; two sons, Jimmie and wife Eleanor of Phoenix, Ariz; Eldon and wife Kay of Harrison; eight grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Charles Beaman of Greenfield, Iowa.

Besides the four sons, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, two sisters, and two grandsons, Floyd Orie Fox and Robert E. Fox.

Those here from away to attend the service were Mr. and Mrs. Mike Quintana, Denver; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Folchert and family, Bradshaw, Neb.; Mrs. Edna Mae Hamilton, Moscow, Idaho; Mrs. Betty Wasserburger and David, Mrs. Lola Wasserburger, and Mrs. Agnes Semroska all of Edgemont; Mrs. Mildred Rice, Mrs. Rose Mooney, and Mrs. Helen Gorr, all of Chadron; Mrs. Pauline Gross, Dennis Gross and son Scott, all of Greenfield, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Heumier and Miss Harriet Heumier of Lusk; and Mrs. George Johnson of Alliance.
