Aleatha Beckler Smith

Aleatha Beckler Smith, who homesteaded in Niobrara County, died at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital December 12.

Mrs. Smith was born September 9, 1903, at Crawford, Neb., the daughter of Joseph and Ida Beckler. She lived in Belle Fouche, S.D., and homesteaded in Niobrara County. In 1954 she moved to Lusk where she made her home with her brother, Lester, until his death. She continued to live here until she entered a nursing home in 1979. She was a member of the Congregational Church.

Memorial services were held last Sunday at Peet Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Frank Blish officiating.

Edna DeCastro was organist. Music was "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art." Active pallbearers were Charles Smith, Alvin Smith, James Willson, Richard Smith, Bill Oates and Everett Kilmer.

Interment was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by two brothers Lester and Pearl and two sisters Viola Case and Anna Beckler. She is survived by her husband, Alvin C. Smith and a son Richard J. Smith, Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and two sisters Ruth Bumba of Chicago and Mary Oler of Casper.
