Last Rites for Lester Beckler

Lester Michael Beckler, 76, retired rancher of the Cheyenne River country, died at the Niobrara Memorial Hospital June 21. Funeral services were held from the Peet Chapel at 2:00 p.m. last Thursday.

Mr. Beckler was born at Lacon, Ia., to Ida and Joseph Beckler. He came to Niobrara County in about 1935 and homesteaded in the Cheyenne River country. His youth was spent in Crawford, Nebr. About ten years ago he retired from ranching and moved to Lusk where he has resided with his sister, Mrs. Aleatha Smith.

The Rev. C. W. Jervis of the First Baptist Church officiated at the services. Pallbearers were George Hillen, Otto Klemke, C. E. Marvin, Z.B. Crinklaw, Joe Andrews and Jo Jones. Organist was Mrs. J. P. Watson and she accompanied Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Mrs. Emerson Bonner as they sang "Crossing the Bar" and "Abide with Me".

Burial was in the Lusk Cemetery.

Survivors include a brother, Paul, of Wood, Wis., and five sisters, Mary Oler of Casper, Viola Case of Baltimore, Md., Anna Golden of Santa Barbara, Calif., Ruth Bumba of Stark, Fla., and Aleatha Smith of Lusk.
