Leonard Taylor Last Rites Held

Funeral services for Leonard Taylor, who died October 20, were held on October 24 at 2:00 p.m. from the United Memorial Methodist Church at Harrison, and interment was in the Crawford Cemetery.

The Rev. J. Lee Gorman, Harrison pastor officiated. Casket Bearers were Fred Hamaker, Dale Buckley, Rex Osborn, Virgil Howard, LaVerne Hanley, and E. J. Murphy Jr. Mrs. Louise Serres was organist and Mrs. Virginia Coffee sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Beyond the Sunset."

Leonard Sargent Taylor was born February 23, 1910, at Merrill, Iowa, the son of Edgar and Dollie Taylor. He spent his early years in Iowa before the family moved to the Johnstown and Ainsworth, Neb., area where he received most of his education. In the fall of 1926 he came to the Harrison community and lived with his brother while attending Sioux County High School. He then returned to the Ainsworth community where he worked for the next five years. In 1933 he returned to Harrison where he spent the rest of his life working and ranching.

On April 3, 1934, he married Irene E. Sternhagen of the Glen community. One son, Charles, was born.

Mr. Taylor was an active member of the community, a long time member of the Odd Fellow Lodge which he served as district deputy president. He was currently a contract mail carrier for the rural route north of Harrison.

Surviving are his widow Irene of Harrison; his son Charles and wife Aliene and four children, David Charles, Daniel Leonard, Dawnita Irene and Deanna Lee of Ogallala, Neb.; one brother, Lester of Harrison; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Rasmussen of Omaha, and Mrs. Opal Smith of Huron, S.D. His parents, three brothers and two sisters died previously.
