Ida Deuel Dies

Word was received here that former Lance Creek resident Mrs. George (Ida) Deuel passed away Saturday evening in Illinois. Mrs. Deuel and her late husband homesteaded north of Lance Creek in early 1910. Mrs. Deuel, who was 85, had spent the summers in Douglas and the winters back in Illinois the past several years. Recently she had been a resident of a nursing home near DeKalb, Ill.

She is survived by her two sons Darrell Deuel of Riverton, formerly of Lance Creek, and Junior Deuel; and five daughters: Ruth, Betty, Darlene, Delores and Evelyn. Mrs. Deuel was also an aunt of Mrs. Clem (Wennie) Mosier of Lance Creek.

Funeral services are set for next Monday, Feb. 18 in Douglas. No other details are available at this time.

Services Held for Former Resident

Services were held for former Lance Creek area resident Ida Marie Deuel, 86, Monday, Feb. 18 at the First Baptist Church in Douglas with the Rev. Bob Noris, officiating. Deuel passed away at the Shabbona Nursing Home Feb. 9 in DeKalb, Ill. Burial was made in the Douglas Park Cemetery and a memorial has been established to the First Baptist Church in Douglas.

She was born Oct. 18, 1898 to Harrison and Viola Bowman Euler at Norfolk, Neb. She married George Edward Deuel at Wayne, Neb. On Oct. 25, 1919. The couple moved to Wyoming, homesteading north of Lance Creek, where they made their home for many years, and reared their children. Mrs. Deuel moved to Douglas in later years and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, First Baptist Church, North Platte Homemaker's group and the Douglas American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant daughter, one brother, two sisters and three grandsons.

Survivors include two sons, Darrell Deuel of Kinnear and until recently Lance Creek and George Edward Deuel, Jr. of Brainerd, Minn.; five daughters, Mrs. Woodrow (Evelyn) Anderson of Riverside, Calif.; Mrs. Ralph Wiggan of Lakewood, Colo., Mrs. Donald (Betty) Harris of Cartersville, Ga., Mrs. Delores Dugan of Gill, Colo. and Mrs. Hollis (Darlene) Fluesh of Deakalb, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Johnson of Norfolk, Neb.; 21 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Winnie Moser attend the funeral from this area. Mrs. Deuel was her aunt.
