Ralph D. Thompson, Resident of Lusk Many Years, Passes Away in Oregon; Rites and Interment Here Wednesday

Thon Book No. 4

Ralph D. Thompson, for more than a quarter of a century a resident of Lusk during which time he was greatly interested in civic affairs until his retirement from business here, passed away early Friday, June 25th, at the home of his son, Cecil Thompson, in Hermiston, Oregon.

The deceased for several years had been afflicted with heart trouble, having a most serious sickness six years ago. Recovering somewhat from that attack, he enjoyed fair health until last December when he was again stricken with the ailment. During this time he was confined to his home, and in a local hospital, and in a Denver hospital, going from the Colorado capitol about three weeks ago to Hermiston, where he seemed to be improving. His demise came peacefully as he slept.

Funeral services were conducted at 3:00 o'clock, Friday afternoon, June 25th, by Rev. Bennett in a chapel at Hermiston. The remains were shipped from that point to Cheyenne, accompanied by Mrs. Thompson and a daughter, Mrs. Agnes Morris, and brought overland to Lusk by George Earl Peet of the Peet Funeral home.

Final rites were conducted today (Thursday) at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Peet Mortuary with Rev. Clyde Hampton officiating. A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Edna DeCastro, Miss Bessie Lumsden, George Gibson and Don Unruh sang, "Rock of Ages" and "Abide With Me." They were accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Otto Koberlin.

Bearing the remains to their final resting place in the Lusk cemetery were Hugo Payne, M. N. Wilhermisdorfer, O. P. Harnagel, Pete Owens, Ralph Olinger and Arthur F. Vogel.

He is survived by his widow, Grace, two sons, Cecil of Hermiston, Oregon and Floyd of Kennewick, Wash.; one daughter Mrs. Agnes Morris of Pasco, Wash.; a step daughter, Mrs. Regina Street and a step-son Virgil Quinn both of Lusk; seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter; one sister, Mrs. Goldie Moses of Ponca City, Okla.; and one brother, Vern Thompson of Clearwater, Nebr. and numerous other relatives.

Out-of-town relatives attending the services included Mrs. Dan Morris, Pasco, Wash.; Hal Thompson, Vern Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. Deloss Thompson of Clearwater, Nebr.; Mr. and Mrs. Guy Moses and son, Armont of Ponca City, Okla.; Mrs. Lester Hall of Houston, Texas; Miss Katherine Mckillop and Kenneth McKillop of Artesian, S.
