George Blackmore Dies at Flattop Thursday Morning

George Blackmore, , 57, died early Thursday morning, Jan. 24, at his ranch home in the Flattop community after an extended illness.

He was born at Catcott, England Nov. 15, 1864 and spent his youth in that country. In early manhood he joined the British Army and while in that service spent several years in India.

His first trip to the United States was made in 1893 and he made several trips after that, finally locating in Chicago.

Returning to his native land in 1905, he was married on Oct 31 to Miss Bessie Alford and they came to the United States to make their home, living for a time with a sister, Mrs. Henry Godfrey, near Erie, Ill. The following spring they moved to a farm near Erie where they lived for a couple of years and then in 1909 came to Manville, Wyo., where they lived for four years.

In 1913 they moved to a homestead in the Flattop community where they have since resided.

Funeral services were conducted from the Peet Chapel at 2:00 o'clock Saturday afternoon, Jan. 26, with the Rev. Harold Weaver, pastor of St. George's Episcopal Church, officiating.

Music was furnished by Mrs. A. F. DeCastro and Miss Dolores DeCastro accompanied by Mrs. J.P. Watson.

The casket bearers were Dan Smith, Joe Panno, Lou Bass, Ewart Hughes, Kenneth Hughes and C.E. Marvin with interment in the Lusk Cemetery.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Bessie Blackmore, surviving are three children: a son, Doyle, and a daughter, Mrs Harry Fahy, both of Flattop, and a son, Tom of Riverton. He also leaves two grandchildren; two brothers, Frank of Mt. Pleasant, Ia, and Charles of Blue Island, Ill.; and a sister, Mrs. Ann Hawlett, in England.
