Services Held for Albert Lee Shippen

Funeral services for Albert Lee Shippen, who died at the home of his son, Harold of Casper, were conducted from the Community Church of Manville by Rev. H.T. Clark, pastor of the Baptist Church of Lusk, on Tuesday afternoon, May 17, at 2:00 o'clock.

Interment was made in the Manville cemetery.

Albert Lee Shippen was born at Manville, Wyoming March 9, 1892, the son of John N. and Clara J. Shippen. He resided with his parents in Manville until the year 1903 when the family moved to the northern part of the state. Thereafter he made his home in and around Buffalo.

On August 25, 1915 he was married to Mary Alberta Chaplin and they are the parents of four children, all of whom survive him. His wife preceded him in death January 21, 1921.

He was engaged in the saw mill and ranching business until October 1941 when he joined a construction company and was
working on the Red Hill Storage project at Pearl Harbor at the time of the bombing attack on December 7, 1941. He spent 15 months there, one year at Camp Canol and a year in the Aleutian Islands from which place he was shipped home on a hospital ship and never fully regained his health, suffering several strokes since that time.

The past year he had been residing with his son at Casper.

The survivors include his son Harold of Casper; three daughters, Bessie Salzman of Casper and twin daughters, Geneva
Swearengin and Evelyn Pizer both of Denver, Colorado, and three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Baughn at Manville, Mamie S. Rogers of Denver, Inn S. Osborne of Midwest, Wyo., five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

His parents and two brothers, Walter and Cody, have all preceded him in death.
