Nellie Blaney Dies In Douglas Thurs.

Mrs. Nellie Bell Blaney, 67, died last Thursday at the Converse County Memorial Hospital at Douglas. Funeral services were conducted from the Peet Mortuary in Lusk, Sunday afternoon at 3:30. Burial was in the Lusk cemetery.

The Rev. Richard Korns of Manville officiated. Mrs. A. F. DeCastro, rendered organ music and accompanied Mrs. Richard Korns and Mrs. Jack Hammond as they sang "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Beyond the Sunset."

Casket bearers were Bill Glandt, Bill Welch, Alvin Alexander, Chuck Vaughan, Dick Lee and Zeb Ward.

Nellie Bell Blaney was born to Milton and Molly Blaney October 6, 1900, at Sunshine Mesa, Colo. She married Samuel Harrison Blaney at Jireh Dec. 25, 1920. She lived in the Flattop, Jireh and Manville areas until eight years ago when ill health forced her to move to a nursing home in Douglas.

Her husband died previously.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Mae Olive Hoyt of Douglas; three sons, William Milton of Norwalk, Calif; Clifford Charles, Lusk and Robert Lloyd of Lance Creek; five sisters, Mrs. Jesse Biers, Redlands, Calif.; Mrs. Etta Tewksbury, Battleground, Ore.; Mrs. Bertha Hester, Bayfield, Colo.; Mrs. Mae Roberts, Naturita, Colo.; and Mrs. Stells Williams, Norwood, Colo.; and 9 grandchildren.

Note: Although this obituary lists Nellie's parents as Milton and Molly Blaney, her husband's obituary says that he married Nellie Evans. Her obituary is duplicated above as written. However, her maiden name has been listed as Evans. This is documented in the 1910 Census, which lists 9 year old Nellie Bell Evans, born in Colorado and living in Trout Lake, San Miguel, Colorado with her father Milton A. Evans, 44, born in Iowa, and her mother Mollie Evans, 40, born in Indiana. Other siblings in the household included:

The Lusk Herald, January 7, 1921

A pretty home wedding took place December 25, 1920, at the home of Mrs. Sarah J. Blaney in Jireh, Wyoming.

Her youngest son, Samuel H. Blaney was married to Miss Nellie Belle Evans of Ames, Colorado.

Reverend Buttler of Manville, Wyo., performed the ceremony.

The happy young couple stood beneath a large white wedding bell draped with garlands and mistletoe.

The groom being dressed in his military uniform and the bride was attired in white. Immediately after the ceremony a wedding dinner was served, covers
being laid for fourteen, those present were Mrs. Sarah J. Blaney, Mr.
and Mrs. William Blaney of Glenrock, Wyo., Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bruner
and daughters, Mildred, Myrtle, and Vera, Reverend Buttler, Mrs. Eva
Bander and Miss Mary Bander also of Glenrock.

The following Sunday Evening a large number of friends and relatives
gathered to greet the happy young couple and to wish them a successful
voyage on the sea of matrimony.

At a seasonable hour a light luncheon was served after which the guests departed for their homes.

Mr. and Mrs. Blaney have made many friends in both Ames and Jireh,
the bride having the greatest part of her life in and near Telluride.

Mr. Blaney was formerly an operator at the Ames Station for the
Western Colorado Power Company and now is engaged in farming and is one
of the directors of the Niobrara County Potato Growers Association.

The young couple will be at home to their friends in Jireh, Wyoming after January 1st.
