Converse County Herald,  November 09, 1899

This week has sounded the death pall and left another happy home in deep despair. W. S. Jenks is dead, and this news will cause a pang of regret among his many acquaintances here and elsewhere who knew him as a big-hearted, generous fellow. He died at two o'clock this morning, but
not until he battled bravely for over four hours with that unconquerable foe - death. He had been confined to his bed for about six weeks with some kind of stomach trouble and death must have come as a relief. To his sorrowing wife and little son, who are left alone to battle through this world, the sympathy of all is extended them. Mr. Jenks was an honored member of Woodmen of the World lodge and carried $2,000 insurance in that order, which will go to his wife. His body will be laid to rest in the family lot in the beautiful cemetery at Cheyenne, where his father and a daughter lie peacefully at rest.
